Negative self-talk is what convinced this young woman to start running. Now, she runs for the enjoyment of the sport.
As part of their #PinkPowerTODAY campaign during the month of October, The Today Show responded to requests to surprise one breast cancer patient at her place of work. Dahlia Clark Hanshaw, an employee at Wendy’s, was diagnosed with breast cancer four months ago. But even when chemotherapy can bring down her physical energy, it will not affect her spirit.
The nurses that treat Hanshaw noticed and felt her infectious, gracious spirit, how she’s always bringing the smiles during the worst days of her life, and they contacted the Today Show to do a special segment on her. Hoda Kotb sneaks in to give Hanshaw a big hug—but what Hanshaw wasn’t expecting was one of her favorite people, Olympian Allyson Felix, to show up as well. Oh, and Allyson Felix also gives her the spikes she raced in during the Rio Olympics. Watch the segment below and grab the tissues:
