Our September issue is all about getting outside with your pup!
Researchers with Seattle Pacific University presented the results of a study last year that tested how much “stroller running is more energetically costly than running independently.” Interestingly, they quantified the differences among three methods—using two hands, one hand or the push-and-chase. While all methods showed a decrease in speed and stride length, the two-hand approach proved to be most energy-efficient. We bet that’s the method runner Calum Neff used when he pushed his 4-year-old daughter to a stroller-marathon world record last year with a blazing time of 2:31:22.
