Looking for the secret to a long life? You’ll find it at the Farmer’s Market. Increased intake of fruits and vegetables can prevent early death, according to a review published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
Those who consumed seven or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day saw a 42 percent decreased risk of death due to any cause, compared with those who consumed little to no produce. The risk of death from cancer and heart disease was lowered by 25 percent and 31 percent, respectively, in the 7-serving group.
