Instead of giving in to the traditional holiday weight gain, follow this registered dietitian’s advice to avoid overeating this winter.
Avoid added sugars and preservatives by whipping up this milk alternative in your own kitchen.
11/2 cups raw almonds
6 cups water
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Cinnamon to taste
Place almonds in a bowl with 3 cups of water and soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. Drain the almonds and place in a blender with the remaining 3 cups of water, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Blend until smooth. Place a cheesecloth over a pitcher and strain in the mixture. Almond milk will keep in your fridge for up to a week.
