Do weight-loss shows motivate people to change their lives, or do they scare people into staying on the couch? University of Alberta researchers say it’s the latter. In a recent study, subjects who viewed depictions of exercise on weight-loss shows were turned off by the thought of exercise. The researchers suggest that the extreme workouts and crying contestants portray physical activity in a poor light. Skip the viewing party and make fun fitness plans with your friends instead!
