A reflection on the effect that 2018 Boston Marathon champion Desiree Linden's win has on the American running community one week later.
As three members of the Women’s Running team head out onto the course for Marathon Monday, we can’t help but share a few more fun facts for the iconic race:
-Women made up 43% of the entrants for the 2012 race.
-50% of the women running the 2012 race were 39 years old or younger.
-Sister Maddona Buder was the oldest woman to run the 2012 race, at age 81. She will tackle the course again this year, at the young age of 82.
-Runners from all 50 states hit the streets in 2012, along with racers from 67 countries.
-Massachusetts supplied the largest number of runners in 2012, followed by California and New York.
-Adidas celebrates its 25-year partnership with the B.A.A. in 2013 by supplying the licensed apparel available for souvenir purchase. Each year the brand changes the color of the jackets runners buy as a badge of honor. This year, runners are rocking the B.A.A. signature colors of blue and yellow.
