Up early to crank out two mellow, steady hours of effort on the bike. I’m good for about an hour on the trainer. Once it gets to 75 minutes or so, I start going a bit stir crazy, which resulted in me texting several friends to the point of annoyance. While riding, I also read a Carmichael Training Systems article about the long, indoor rides of winter. Their point was that hours of easy, mindless spinning aren’t as beneficial as upping the effort to just more than your average group ride, conversational pace. So, I stepped it up a little and felt good.
