October 20 2017
Team WR shares five things they loved the week of October 20, 2017.
When it comes to running, I’m all about the buddy system. While there’s something to be said for the mental clarity that comes with solo runs, I’ll choose company over solitude almost every single time.
I love all my running buddies, but I’m partial to a certain group: my family. Living on opposite ends of the East Coast (Massachusetts and Florida) makes getting together a special treat. This week, I was in Boston to celebrate my parents’ 35th anniversary. Having time to squeeze in a Sebor clan workout was icing on the cake.
The day after the anniversary party, we packed into my dad’s car and headed to a beautiful trail south of Portland, Maine. Although my parents have recently started running (both competed in a 5k for the fist time age 60!), they prefer biking for long distances, so the “kids” went on foot while my mom and dad cycled.
I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than winding through the woods, passing by fields of wildflowers and crossing over bridges. We talked about my brother’s post-college plans, my parents’ party and our favorite restaurants.
We ended the day with a trip to the shore, complete with fried clams and lobster rolls.
It wasn’t the longest, hardest or fastest run of my week—but it was definitely the best.
I want to know. . . What’s the most memorable run you’ve ever taken with your favorite running partner(s)? Let me know here, or tweet me @JessieSebor.
