Why did you start running?
I met a dedicated ultra-marathoner in October of 2010. I couldn’t understand his love for the sport because I associated running with painful memories from my high school gym class. The longer I knew him, the more I caught a special glimpse of his passion. Lo and behold, my curiosity got the best of me, and I suddenly found myself testing my limits on the treadmill in January of 2011. The rest is history!
What makes you go run?
I’m a weight loss success story, but I didn’t lose the weight from running. I worked my butt off (literally) with clean eating habits, only to find myself heading towards a downward spiral, as my caloric intake started reaching dangerously low levels. I started running and it saved my life, allowing me to view food as fuel rather than the enemy. Now I run to challenge myself. I run to be fearless. I run to clear my wildly rampant thoughts. I’m a runner, and I love every painstakingly triumphant moment.
Fun fact. . .
Back in April of 2009, I weighed in at an astounding 230 pounds. One year later, I was 110 pounds lighter, and I’ve successfully kept the weight off for over two years. I didn’t just add years to my life, but I added life to my years, and I have running to thank for it.
