One mother runner draws amazing parallels between marathoning and the marathon of a marriage.
We’re pumped to share this week’s Women’s Running magazine Blogger On The Run- Megan from The Runner’s Kitchen! This 20-something year old runner is a busy Brooklyn girl who fits in time to train, cook healthy meals, and share the love with her readers! Plus, she just ran the Boston Marathon on Monday in brutally hot weather conditions, which makes her one tough cookie in our books! Check out what she recently shared with us:
WR: How would you describe yourself?
M: I’m a 20-something runner living in Brooklyn. On the blog, I discuss my marathon training and favorite recipes. I love running, but I also like to let loose and love beer and dessert.
WR: What keeps you running and training?
M: I’m a member of the Central Park Track Club and I’m constantly being inspired and motivated by my dedicated teammates.
WR: What’s your favorite race memory?
M: I ran my 5k PR during a track meet while I was a senior in college. It was faster than I ever thought I could run and yet it felt nearly effortless. It was one of those magic days when everything clicks…
WR: What do you hope your readers will get from reading your blog?
M: I’m not perfect. I like junk food. Sometimes I sleep in and miss runs. I guess I just want readers to know that while running is very important to me, it’s also essential to have balance.
WR: Best running advice you’ve received or given?
M: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. Running a tough workout or a race is going to hurt, no doubt about it, but your attitude can make a huge difference. I practiced thinking that during a most recent race – I smiled and told myself that I race because I WANT to, because it’s FUN, and it definitely helped.
