A runner shares a personal essay documenting her years as "the runner" in rural South Dakota.
Colleen Cannon is a long-time endurance athlete who has journeyed through the ranks of professional triathlon to her current role as founder of Women’s Quest, an organization providing women with active adventures for the body, mind and spirit. As the company’s website proclaims, a Women’s Quest retreat “is no ordinary fitness or travel vacation. It is a reawakening to yourself and your one wild and precious life!”
Women’s Quest retreats are offered in a variety of stunning and soul-stirring locales, including Italy, Colorado, Hawaii, Costa Rica and Northern California’s wine country. Activities run the gamut from cycling, trail running, yoga, ocean swimming, hiking, horseback riding, wine tasting, journal writing and much more. Each Quest emphasizes a combination of physical, mental and spiritual fitness and exploration, tailored to the needs and desires of the individual participants. Women of all experience levels are encouraged to give themselves the gift of focused time and energy geared toward re-invigorating the many aspects of their lives and personal well being. Take a look at the upcoming 2011/2012 Women’s Quest retreats – you’re sure to find at least one that inspires you!
